Christmas cafe and sale at the allotment
To day we had a bit of a social gathering at the allotment. A stall selling mistletoe, lovely chocolate fudge and various chutneys, marmalade etc. Also some paper openers made of various wood made by one of the allotment holders ( beech, birch, oak etc) . I bought one and it works well!
The mistletoe was also grown on the allotment- one lady has been very patient and after several years now has some every year growing on an apple tree on her plot. Apparently only one in ten seeds germinate and if they do it takes at least five years to grow to the size that is suitable to cut.
There was the usual coffee and cake but also mulled wine and mince pies. It was good to meet up with people outside and several people dressed up with Santa hats etc. My friend and I wore reindeer antlers!
I took several photos and a little video to send to one of our friends who had a plot near ours but has moved away from the area and is not that well.
