Loch Caoldair

We were collecting L off the train at Dalwhinnie today. We, Mrs SJR, the dogs and I left in plenty of time so that we could have a quick tramp up to the Loch in the afternoon.
We were walking into dazzling low winter sun on the way up. When we got to the loch the sun had dipped below the peaks to the west. The walking was easy on hard frozen ground The loch was frozen too.
This has been a good day of walks for the boys as they already had a decent stroll at Brackletter first thing.
We were back at the car in good time and got a takeaway coffee at the filling station in the village. As we waited at the station the sky in the east turned pink and purple and the  full moon looked enormous as it sat a few inches above the north Drumochter hills.
The drive back west was stunning with the sky changing from orange to cherry red and reflecting on a very still Loch Laggan.
Extras
L is home early for Christmas and will work the days either side of his holiday at his Roy Bridge office.
