A Surprising Day

I went down to Sahuarita Lake, figuring there would be a lot of people fishing and moms having picnics with their kids. Even though it was a week day, I thought maybe it was still winter break. Lots of blip opps.

Turned out it was deserted.

I just stood there trying to figure out what I could photograph when this couple came upon me. The conversation starter is almost always my camera.

We had a nice chat. We discovered that we had all lived in the same exact location in Maryland. Just three decades apart! While sharing our memories of the place it became clear that some things change but other things will always be the same.

After we said our goodbyes, he turned and asked me my favorite St. Mary's County food. I told him it was stuffed ham. He chuckled and nodded his head.

They walked away with a kind of peacefulness and calm I haven't seen much in people lately. I might be overstating it a bit, but it was kind of wonderful for these people to drop into my life.
