Diary of an Edinburgher

Pandemic? What pandemic?

A slow start this morning… JR did NOT go to the gym. Just as well Archie isn’t an early riser - it was about 10am when JR took him round the block.

Once he’d gone off with Elizabeth, we set off into town for a much anticipated lunch at the White Horse Oyster Bar in the Royal Mile. A very nice meal it was too, though no oysters were taken. It’s more of a tapas-type sharing plate type of menu. And no wine either…

And it was mobbed! In fact, the whole town was mobbed. You wouldn’t think that we were in the midst of a pandemic!!

We walked down one of the side roads and came to a whole new precinct, with offices, inner-city apartments and a Loudon’s, a favourite cafe with NO music. So we went in and had coffees. And cakes.

Then we wandered along Market Street, which is near the train station, and the place was busier and busier. Lots of folk with trundle suitcases.

I got the bus home, but JR walked home, having missed out on her gym step count. It was such a beautiful day, but the haar was coming in over the Meadows in the evening.

We’re watching ‘Succession’. But really, it’s just a lot of very rude people shouting corporate gibberish most of the time. But the Guardian blog helps to get the gist.

Still got a bit of a sniffle and sneezes, which is quite awkward when wearing a mask, but here’s Archie, exhausted and happy after his day out with Elizabeth.
