The woodcarver

In a meeting all day in Salima - its extremely hot and the electricity went off which meant we had no air con or fans! So I didn't think a picture of hot and sweaty participants would make for a good blip!

We are right on the beach at Salima and this woodcarver was sitting carving his beautiful pots and keyrings and other things that tourists buy! He thought I was a tourist and was quite disappointed when I turned out not to be! The carvings are cheap in terms of foreign currency but for a Malawian they are expensive and also useless items to them! And.......why would you pay money for something to sit in your house when you need to buy some food for your family!!
