Its nice when hobbies align. Today I went to my favorite bit of beach and took a blip, of one of my other interests, Lifeboats.

Today was launch and recovery trials of the new Lifeboat that we will be getting in St Ives in about a year, The Shannon Class. It certainly lived up to its specification, doing about 30 knots, turning in its own length and stopping from full speed in about 1 yard !

This pic is of the recovery where it is winched on to the trailer bow first, then turned 180 degrees so that it can be launched quickly if needed.
