The Isle of May

A fine spring day - except for the freezing temperature. Looking east from Blackford Hill.

In the distance the Isle of May, approximately 5 miles off the coast. The island is owned and managed by Scottish Natural Heritage as a National Nature Reserve. I have never been, but hope to one day. It is not inhabited, but there are the remains of a medieval priory. There is also a Robert Stevenson lighthouse.

I think the vessel in the foreground is the tanker Gamagas, flying under an Antiguan flag, and waiting at anchor for its turn to move up to Grangemouth.
