Sausage Rolls, Scones and Turkish Delight

I had a sneaky afternoon off to go with my friend K to go to Castle Howard to see the Christmas decorations and their Narnia themed experience. It’s a tradition that started years ago and we both missed it last year as it always makes us feel very Christmassy.

The normal cafe where we would usually enjoy a mulled wine and mince pie was closed this year, but we found that you could get an afternoon tea inside the house and away from the crowded main cafe, so we decided to treat ourselves. It was delicious with tarts and sausage rolls, scones and Turkish delight (as a nod to the Narnia story where the White Queen lures Edmund away with Turkish delight).

The decorations in the house were stunning (extras) but the view from the house as we came out with the mist across the lake and the sun setting were spectacular, especially with the lit Christmas trees lining the path back to the car park.
