On the defence …

At 2pm today I was privileged to witness the end of school day at the start of the Christmas holidays for our local grandsons. The pupils erupted from their classrooms in a lava flow of excitement, presents and festive greetings exchanged in a happy cacophony of youthful voice! Their teachers and assistants who have all done a remarkable job this term, this year, oversaw this magical moment with a benign grace and a tangible relief at having made the holiday haven without another Covid lockdown.

Our Christmas tree awaited the boys help to decorate it when we got home. They did a great job and the tree looks super.

There’s no set date as to when Christmas trees should come in. Traditionally, we used to wait until Christmas Eve. More recently we have adopted a week before Christmas Eve. Today’s decorated by our grandchildren, was a reminder of why we moved south. As we collaborated across the generations I was extremely mindful of the millions around the world kept apart this Christmas due to the rapid spread of a mutating virus.

Our garden fence was efficiently repaired today with two new posts and concrete stanchions. We can now begin installing our tree and plants in earnest!
