Living my dream

First pick

This is a sign of delicious things to come :-)

80g of raspberries today. By next weekend I should be picking 1.5kg every second day, and in mid January - weather permitting - it will be around 2.5kg per pick.

For each of the last two years I have harvested the weight of Bean-plus-a-bit in raspberries over the season. That’s about 37kg per year.

Some (quite a lot actually) I eat fresh. Some I give away. Some I make into jam and some into cordial. I freeze whatever is surplus. Not one berry goes to waste.

And yes, of course I’m still eating last year’s frozen raspberries ;-)

The extra is especially for Happy Valley. Bean watching ducks in the sunshine.

Sunshine? Did somebody say sunshine? A joke surely? Yep…there have been two enormous thunderstorms today with torrential rain and hail in the mix. The sun is teasing us again right now…
