Matterhorn husky

So lucky, I got a voucher for my 50th birthday from my kids, for an overnight stay in Zermatt, at the Riffelhaus hotel. We set off at 6.15 and we were up in Zermatt at the Gornergratbahn by11am. We could check in to our room early, and then had lunch in the dining room,with the most amazing Matterhorn views. The weather was really good, just a tiny bit of light cloud, in fact quit warm, 5 degrees at 2500m. The snow conditions were incredible, we skied mainly on the Rothorn and Riffelberg for the afternoon. Completely amazing, not many people at all, mid week before the season really gets going. When the ski runs closed we took the Gornergratbahn, to the top to the observatory to watch the sunset. It was really stunning. Back at the hotel, we went to the wellness area, also quiet, including the outdoor whirlpool. Dinner was superb, the moon was almost full, you could still see the Matterhorn clearly at night.
