Baby sitting
. . . petunias, geraniums and beans while their owners were away on holiday, down on the Solway Firth at an hotel for the weekend before heading to a Galloway cottage - at least, that was the plan . . . before it snowed.
While at the hotel, the owners of the Galloway cottage called them to say that there was no power and they would have to cancel. During dinner that evening, preparing to return home the next day, our friends overheard the conversation of another couple who had been renting a cottage nearby. The guests for the next week had cancelled. So, our friends negotiated to stay there instead and got their holiday after all - serendipity - win/win! And, importantly, the nursery survived here while they were away.
Another lovely clear, sunny day here - managed to dig more roots out of the vegetable patch in the old field.
