Tree lights.

Parked in the village car park. The Christmas lights caught my attention. The wee house in the photo is shown on maps from 1888, or earlier. I was returning from a walk in the park, my wife had had an appointment in town.

Watched the Scottish Government Covid19 statement on omicron (27.5%) and Christmas protective measures. First Minister outlined new guidelines on social contact which includes asking for no more than three households to meet in social settings before/after Christmas. Some legal requirements too - those running businesses or providing services will be obliged to take measures which are reasonably practicable to minimise the risk of transmission. Further comment on vaccinations - 80% by year end. Westminster constraints on funding to Devolved Nations means less protective options are available than desired (Wales Northern Ireland leaders say similar). As always there are inconsistencies. Scottish media spending more time on those and less on key messages - which tends to trivialise key public health messages.

At Westminster the Prime Minister’s covid protections were voted through by support of Opposition. Significant numbers of own MPs didn’t support him. Further Christmas 2020 revelation in media again.

Family are well. Fair bit of chat re today’s announcement. Plans now trimmed. We all know many now with covid. And consider it inevitable that more Covid19 protective measures will follow soon.
