conservation
a large part of my job is focused solely on energy savings - as it should be to offset the goliath carbon footprint i leave behind with frequent air travel. this, of course, means i am always in the company of like minded people - we who are after new ways to reduce the impact manufacturing facilities make on the ecosystem.
the fun of today was witnessing this pet project of one of the gentleman i am working with - he's implementing water-reduction program, even down to this level with waterless urinals. of course, with factory toilets being in high-demand, there's been little time between the removal of the flush-systems and the use of these new models today. the transformation was so fast that even the old sign remained.
the laughs came pouring in this afternoon when the official announcement had to be made to clear up the confusion. apparently, there'd been multiple complaints regarding the proximity of the handle as well as how users had to sacrifice their own water to complete the task. all part of the learning curve.
