‘The Palace of Stardust’ ?

This is the front entrance of Hampton Court Palace which is hosting a lights event called the ‘Palace of Stardust’. 

There are 9 different areas most of which are connected in some way to the planets….some in a very tenuous way. Some of the illumination with coloured lights is very effective…the lighting changes colour on this front area and there is a lot of different lighting in the courtyard  with the astronomical clock too. 

My extra shows the view of the dancing ladies I blipped a few days ago. Having read the notes on the map I now understand that these are ladies dancing a waltz by the light of the moon! They are rotating slowly and there is tasteful music playing - a Tchaikovsky waltz.

I’m glad I went to see it and being a member the tickets were cheap and also I did not have to travel far, but I would not have paid a lot to get in or wanted a long journey….a bit disappointing. I think there were a lot of missed opportunities eg lighting more of the gardens and I’m not sure who their target market is…….
