sequence programming - an exercise I once did as an OU student (summer school at UEA, Norwich) using Z80 assembly code. 

This is the start of a setup for a young man using Python on a Raspberry Pi - with a nice library of functions to use for the GPIO pins. 

But I doubt he'll remember it in forty years time with the same smug satisfaction
