Safe Place

I guess chicken society is somewhat like human society in that the young reach a point where they disrespect and dishonor the aging. Albert here is sweet old guy. So gentle and such a good protector for his girls. However, Biscuit and Slick have came into their own now and torment and terrify him every chance they get. We’ve relocated Albert to a pen of 3 old girls and 3 gentle ducks and that is working great…. In the pen. When he’s free ranging, they hunt him like raptors! This should pass soon, but for the time being, he likes to hang around the porch and us, as we rescue him from them. We run them off then cuddle him till he calms. He has formed a bond with Johnny and will just be content to sit in his lap. He sees him as a safe place. I get that. I do too. xx :—)
