GIANT APOLIGY
I may well have done Market Weighton a huge injustices yesterday by saying it wasn't the most photogenic of towns, in the light of a new day & with a little hunting around I found few interesting views to photograph, the wooden statue is of William Bradley, born in Market Weighton on 10 February 1787, weighing in at a staggering 14lbs. He grew to be England's Tallest Ever Man at 7 feet 9 inches and is still listed in the Guinness Book of Records.
This afternoon Gordon (see yesterdays blip) got his 50 year old MGB fired up and took me for a short run out onto the wolds, this fine specimen of The Classic English sports car is a very early one, unusual as it uses a three bearing crank as apposed to the five bearing one used on most MGB's, there are a number of other small differences on the very early cars, all I can say is that it was a pleasure to be driven in it, I was offered a shot at driving it back to the house but thought to air on the side of caution, how would I have felt if I pranged something!
Before setting out for home we all took a drive around the Wolds, vast swaths of undulating arable land, must look a picture when in the nights of the growing season, stopped to look at the magnificent spire on St Marys Church at South Dalton.
All in all it's been a lovely Easter break, plus the added bonus of some decent weather, who would have predicted that!
