Montanhas

Mountains. In response to announcing that I’m leaving to a project partner, I received the same adage as last month, this time in Portuguese and with an added illustration.

Lionel is the Chief Park Warden in Chimanimani National Park and is an open, straightforward character to interact with as a government counterpart. We were meeting on all sorts of project priorities when I had to break the news. He explained that only mountains stretch into the distance and never meet again. Usually we follow criss-crossing paths that intersect as beautifully depicted on the left. I hope it’s true in the case of the Chimanimani project as this is the site and the team I am saddest to leave behind when I depart my role.
