Feet climbed back up towards the Bagni di Cetica - a series of v cold spring-fed plunge pools for summer heat - on the Pratomagno massif.
This is one of the spurs with north facing gullies. But no glaciation. There is one glacier in the Appenines on the Gran Sasso further south in Abruzzo. The GS rises to 2912m.
In three hours I saw five cars. Very quiet. A few blackbirds, a wren near the top, nuthatches calling, a hare tearing across the top of the snow, and lower down a single jay. Streams and torrents drunk on meltwater. The moon rising in the south east. Cold and clear tonight for shooting stars.
