Honey

Although it's called the Little Wattle Bird, it's actually one of the larger honeyeaters, at 25 - 30 cm long. And like all honeyeaters, its tongue is adapted to penetrating deeply into flowers to extract nectar. Here, in nearby parkland, it is feasting on a grevillea flower. It is common around the south-east and south-west coasts of Australia.
