Debout sur le zinc

Last show at the Centre Culturel for a while. It was Debout sur le Zinc playing a selection of Boris Vian songs. Vian is a cultural icon in France though probably not that well known elsewhere. Generally speaking I'm not a fan of chanson française, but I make an exception for Vian and Georges Brassens because their lyrics are witty and intelligent. It was a well put together show, and the six musicians were versatile and very talented, playing to an appreciative audience (full house). Most of whom were probably familiar with all of the songs, unlike us. The only one that was very familiar was the anti-war song Le Déserteur. Here's a clip of the musicians.

A pleasant evening, part of a social weekend as last night we were invited to B and J-C's for dinner, and tomorrow my English book group is meeting up for curry.
