Icy Puddle

Another cold and grey day. G and I did a walk on Kelling Heath and this was the ice on one of many large puddles in a field we walked through. G kindly treated me to a warm drink at KH holiday park and had bought me one of her mince pies made yesterday - yum!  This afternoon I spent an hour picking up leaves and moss in the side garden. I’d popped into town first thing this morning and had to de-ice the car - the pavements were too icy to walk in. This afternoon I watched The Last Bus, a sweet little film with Timothy Spall.

Day 635 / Day 2 of Plan B (for my record only)
54,073 new cases were reported today, 633 being of the Omicron variant (making a total of 1,898 to date). Michael Gove last night warned of a ‘deeply concerning situation’ after chairing a COBRA meeting. Early modelling from the London School of Hygiene (not yet peer reviewed) suggests deaths of between 25,000 and 75,000 in England alone over the next 5 months if there are no additional controls above Plan B, with hospitalisations of between 175,000 and 492,000. From Wed Govt guidance on Care Homes in England will change to allowing residents only 3 visitors and 1 essential care worker. A professor of immunology and infectious disease says ‘Omicron is spreading so quickly that, I think, unless you are living the life of a hermit, you are very likely to come across it in the next few weeks.’ Lots of talk about what Plan C will be and when it will be implemented.
