Sunset and Snow

Took myself away from my comfort zone and actually shot a sunset rather than sunrise today. It is quite disconserting to watch a dipping sun rather than a rising sun. I almost got caught short, not being in a position to shoot anything at all.

I would have perhaps had a few more clouds in the sky to offer the opportunity to tone back the strength of the sun. In the end the use of a 3 stop ND grad and some judicious use of the tone sliders in Lightroom was enough to bring out the detail in the foreground. I'm pleased that you can just about see the white rendering on the house at the other side of the pool.
