No dune anymore

There are lots of plants called Morning Glory. This one is Ipomoea pes-caprae, also called Beach Morning Glory and Goat's Foot. Just for a change, I didn't have to invade a neighbour's garden for this blip. This plant grows on dunes, immediately behind the beach. It is very salt-tolerant.

The rocks in the background  are where dunes once were. Many years ago, the local Council gave approval for property developers to build home units on the fore dune. This happened in many parts of the Australian coast. Any regular beach goer could have advised that fore dunes come and go, absorbing the energy of storm waves and re-forming during calmer conditions. Here and elsewhere, when home units were in danger of being destroyed by storm waves, Councils arranged for loads of rocks to be placed in front of front of the threatened property. Shameful!
