Monarch

I managed a few Monarch photos today as we sat in the Municipal garden before heading for our catamaran in search of whales and dolphins.

We also went back there to check out the mystery our tuk tuk driver had alerted us to. He said that there were only six dwarves in the Christmas display. What had happened to number 7.

Sure enough. Only six ! So what do you do with such a problem ? 

We asked a four year old Madeiran boy who was there with his father. (They spoke a little English and Carol googled the Portuguese word for dwarf.) 

It didn’t take him long. The dwarf was hiding on the toy train (extra). 

He was right. And he loved wishing us a Merry Christmas in his very best English.

We had a lovely trip on the catamaran. Stunning light, amazing cloud formations and good company. Great views of other vessels too, (extra). 

But not a dolphin or sperm whale in sight.

At our farthest point the wind and waves whipped up and we had an exciting bouncy trip back to the Marina. Just fabulous and exhilarating.
