Dressed for Christmas
A trip to Edinburgh today. A fairly early start in the rain and leaden skies. By the time we got to Edinburgh the sky had cleared.
After checking in at our hotel we had a light lunch at the National Portrait Gallery. We then walked to the Christmas Market. It was very busy. Lots of of food stalls but it was too soon for a bratwurst, and we have dinner booked later, The stalls selling seasonal stuff did not tempt us.
We then walked along various streets the names of which are lost to me. The building in the photo was a bank at one time. It is now a bar and restaurant which seems a rather sad come down.
We had a booking at a bar elsewhere. This turned out to be rather disappointing as the service was abysmal. Instead we returned to the hotel for a glass of wine before dinner. Happily the service and dinner at The Ivy was excellent. Although it was about 10pm when we left people were still coming in.
