The Icebreaker

I know ducks are hardy birds but that must have been cold. Paddling furiously through the ice and breaking it as she goes. For the first time in many, many years we went to Palacerigg Country Park near Cumbernauld. It's almost a mid point between Stirling and where the Glasgow family lives. Our elder son doesn't work on a Friday so he and our grandson came over so that we could spend some covid safe time together. We took coffee, mince pies and a sandwich. It's a beautiful day but very cold. The frost was lying thick where the sun wasn't reaching it. See extra for a view through the trees. We had a good 2.5 hours in the fresh air but I'm quite glad to get home to a warm house.

While we were out there was a delivery of some very tasty looking Scottish cheeses from a reputable cheesemonger who does delivery. This was intended for our now postponed family Christmas party tomorrow. I'll find a way to deal with it - I like cheese. Just as well.

Just as well also that we decided to postpone before the FM's announcement today. A few other events are currently being dismantled. They were all outside but nevertheless it feels like the best thing to postpone. On the cheery side when we were out this morning I had a message from the person whose cottage we rent in Pierowall. Bookings have opened for 2022 and, all being well, we're firmly inked into the book.

Wishing you all a good weekend.
