Nigma Nimrod - Tiny Hunter
When I woke up to the sunshine this morning I told my dog we were going bug-hunting.
I got lucky immediately. This is my second shot of the day, a tiny, less than 5mm, green, cribellate, Nigma walckenaeri spider. I think she is a female, the males have brown heads. In Britain these are found mainly in the Home Counties.
I love today's GoogleDoodle honouring artist and naturalist Maria Sibylla Merian. Her drawing of a bird-eating spider was initially dismissed as fantasy.
