My last home birth booked for 2021 , baby born in the most calm, gentle and quiet way possible , truly  inspiring birth. Mom totally had it all in control , I was just there if she needed me and she didn’t . 
I will be grinning for days . A thank you to Angela the second midwife who travelled 2 hrs to be there , it was a very busy night and 3 other home births were going on simultaneously with all the usual colleagues busy. She smiled when she arrived and said of course she was happy to come ..... this isn’t work . I know what she means x
And just so I remember when I look back, it was the wildest night with torrential rain and high winds, flooded roads and power lines violently swinging along the country lanes , it was a relief to get there dry and in one piece . The HSE doesn’t pay danger money unfortunately !!
