Well done Mr. Dobson...
Looking down Grainger Street into the afternoon sunset, the entrance to the Grainger Market is on the right.. What beautiful buildings. The market was opened to the public on the 24th October 1835 and was originally divided into a butchers’ market and separate vegetable market. John Dobson was the architect who designed and oversaw construction of the market but it's name is from Richard Grainger who was the developer in charge of the redevelopment of 19th century Newcastle, including the creation of what is now called 'Grainger Town', incorporating the Grainger Market.
