It's beginning to feel a lot like...
... we've been here before, more than once.
Some new Covid measures have been announced today, but they sound half-hearted. And why do they get described mainly as restrictions, rather than protective measures? Over 51,000 new cases announced today and 847 deaths from Covid in the last week. These days, newsreaders skip over those figures as if they're just part of the landscape.
And we've been here before with the Johnsonian blah blah blah too, in terms of evading capture when he's been caught out breaking the rules.
Anyway, enough of that. Yet somehow I feel an obligation to note it all, especially the Covid figures.
Christmas is coming, and Jack and Marianna brought me a lovely homemade festive wreath the other day. They'd made it at High Riggs, the farm where Josh and Ruth work; Ruth - whose craft skills are extensive - had helped them to make it.
Today's been mainly occupied with keeping on top of Greek homework - as this evening was the final Zoom lesson of the term - and with accompanying Eben to his post-school swimming lesson. He's now swimming short distances without a supportive float, and is still loving the sessions.
