A good year for the roses....

A total bugger of a day. Started off frosty and calm so once everything was fed managed to run 5 cows with very young calves into a shed then headed next door to bring down the spring calving cows and calves from one of the top fields.
Weaned the calves and shut them into a shed then ran the cows into the old lime kilns behind the cottages as it is a good hard field so won’t poach up much.
By 11am the wind was howling and the snow was horizontal so shifted cows and calves from a shed and doubled them up with those in another shed so we could bring in another lot from outside into the now empty shed.
A quick lunch then moved the still to calve cows from their field ,as there was bugger all shelter , into the field the cows and calves came out of. It has trees on 4 sides so should bield them from the wind .
Getting dizzy by now trying to remember where everyone had ended up !
The lassie from Scotbeef came to do the farm inspection which mostly meant going through a raft of paperwork, most of which the Farm Assurance inspection saw last month. However it means our lamb can go to M & S for another 18 months.
The wind still howling tonight, lights have been flickering again today. Fingers crossed it’s not a repeat of last week!
Mrs F rescued these roses from going in the bin at work. Would have been rude not to. If only it had been February could have made a fortune for Valentine’s Day .....
