The Shadow Side

… of Lisbon. Woke up in our lovely room this morning and opened one of the floor to ceiling windows to see this woman mopping the famous Rua Cor de Rosa (Pink Street), which has now been painted partly yellow. This area used to be where the sailors came ashore and was pretty seedy. It still has some risqué bars and clubs. 

I'm very aware that beautiful Lisbon is kept beautiful by a whole army of people who work hard and are paid little and others who live and work in terrible conditions. Like our whole world, really...

Gratefuls:
- for these people and all their work that I benefit from
- successful trip to the Swedish place to get Christmas treats for our Swedish friends
- getting home safely, Mike driving as usual
