Southport Lifeboat Station
Southport Offshore Rescue Trust is a voluntary organisation which provides rescue services for this stretch of coast, it is not funded by the RNLI but it works closely with them.
The new station above is nearing completion. There is a lot of fund raising carried out locally, including a very busy charity shop which was started by the mother of a young man who lost his life on our coast.
The Dept. of Transport recently gave a grant to help with replacing kit that was nearing the end of its working life.
The nearest RNLI stations are at Lytham to the north, across the river Ribble. To the south are Hoylake, and New Brighton stations, both across the Mersey on the Wirral.
