Stiff Little Fingers

I've blipped  Xylaria polymorpha (or longipipes)  Dead Man's  (or Dead Moll's) Fingers, several times before. They appear reliably  in my local woodland every winter, clawing their way through the  moss and leaf litter that cover the dead wood on which they live. Whether slim or chubby, they are always stiff, or so I find, and not recommended for eating, indeed they don't seem in the least toothsome. However one bold  forager chef has tried them and found them acceptable - apart from the fact they contain toxins.
See his blog post here.

Whatever  happened to the Northern Irish punk band Stiff LIttle Fingers? To my amazement they're still playing and have a tour scheduled for next year.
