Christ Church Cathedral
Sunday
A great day today, beginning as usual with morning service at church. We’re currently still without a music director, though one is currently under consideration. So we are still without the traditional choir, which Roger and I are both missing being a part of, but the Praise band together with Tom our organist and occasional instrumentalists are doing a good job filling in the gap. We stayed for bible class, then home for a bit of lunch, before heading downtown to Christ Church Cathedral for a performance of Handel’s Messiah by Collegium Cincinnati, a professional group of singers and instrumentalists. It is a beautiful setting, and the performance was wonderful. In the program there was a note saying each of the singers had either been fully vaccinated or had received a negative Covid test in the last 24 hours. However, some of them still chose to wear masks, yet despite that, their diction was still really clear. I would say about 60% or maybe a bit more of the audience (including us) were wearing masks. The cellist in the orchestra was Tom, our pianist and organist at church - his principal instrument is cello - an extremely talented guy! We’d enjoyed a pleasant drive down in the afternoon sunshine, but by the time we got out it was raining, at times quite heavily. Now, we’re just enjoying a quiet evening in.
Thanks for stopping by, and have a good week fellow blippers!
