It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Today has been a busy one - we took Xena for a walk after breakfast on the common where she had so much fun playing with a young male Vizsla. While we were out, the little elves lads from the local scout group delivered our Christmas tree - its a real beauty, its the second time we have ordered from them and they are top quality trees at a reasonable price

After the walk I went grocery shopping (as I won't have time tomorrow) while Gavin sorted the winter lights outside, following last weekend's job when he put them up but they were a bit too busy for my liking! He set the Christmas tree up for me which I now still have to decorate.

I made a seafood risotto for lunch, and then after lunch we went to the boys old school (where Gavin is a governor) for their carol service - they have three carols services, two for parents and friends of the school, and one for the pupils. It was cancelled last year due to Covid so it was good to be back at the carol service this year, and despite having to wear masks throughout the service and sing through masks, which is rather crap, it was lovely and felt like the start of Christmas. The choir were excellent - and they do not wear masks so at least we could hear them singing properly.

On the way home we stopped off in our high street so I could take some photos of the Christmas lights which are better than usual this year. This is our local pub/restaurant, which has done a good job of their lights. 

Now I have to start decorating the tree and catch up on the ironing. 

Luke and Meriel fly off to Mauritius today for their holiday, I am so pleased that it could actually go ahead after their two previous holidays being cancelled over the past two years due to Covid. They had to do PCR tests before flying and when they get there, and they have to have evidence of an insurance policy to cover them for extra Covid costs in case they have to quarantine whilst there. While they got a bargain price for their holiday on the British Airways sale, all these extra costs due to Covid sure add up.
