I am thankful for birthdays!
Happy Birthday to me.

Some people avoid celebrating their birthdays. But not me. I love my birthday. I don't see birthdays as a celebration of growing older (although, I think that's a good thing) but a celebration of life itself.

There was a time when I was younger when we didn't think I'd necessarily make it to an older age (because of chronic asthma and health problems). But here I am. 33 years old and alive and healthy and happy. I've worked hard to be here and this needs celebrating!

I live in a safe and flourishing country with clean drinking water, no war and education for all. I live in a home I own with my amazing man and my gorgeous dog. I live near a beach and a wetland. I love my job and I have many other things in my life that fulfill me. I live a very privileged life filled with love and wonder.

And so, I celebrate my birthday every year. I say thank you life for being so wonderful and thank you community of loving people for making my world.
