Gently down the stream

Negative-positive

I went for a walk under a very blue sky this morning, all round the reserve.  I enjoyed it but first negative of the day was seeing absolutely no wildlife.  Just a few runners.  However, coming back up the Close for my breakfast I realised there were several types of bird feeding in the oak tree.  Big positive, not to say intriguing.  This was one of them.  I did enjoy seeing a starling behaving like a bird - not a fragment of murmuration, or a thug kicking other birds off the feeders.  Just an ordinary avian.

You can see in the Extra s/he's busy eating.  Now I know starlings are omnivores but was intrigued that it looked like lichen or moss might also be on the menu.  Do any of you know about this?

My other negative was going into town this afternoon to do a little light present buying.  It maybe only 4th December, but the crowds were so thick you couldn't move anywhere and all till queues took ten minutes minimum.  Got out of there as soon as possible.  People seemed so desperate to soak up the Christmas atmosphere I honestly think if Bojo decides the festivities are off he'll be roundly ignored by the majority!

Look after yourselves, dear people - and enjoy your Sunday  xx
