December Sunrise Swim

Looking now at the wet snow falling outside the window it’s hard to remember what a lovely dawn it was at 8:15 this morning as LeeAnne and I pranced in an icy sea once we had found it half a mile off shore at Portobello. It was a low tide to beat all low tides and the walk of the brave and fool hardy to immerse our bodies beautiful was a work out in itself.

Dressed later with teeth chattering we matched briskly to the Beach House to thaw out. A cinnamon bun and hot chocolate later and I could feel the circulation returning to my hands and feet.

The heating is on in the Dower House and I couldn’t contemplate the misery of going out again and even less the misery of tramping round the Christmas Market with hundreds of people intent on evoking the Christmas spirit. It’s all in the mind……
