Albert Cuyp
Albert Cuyp was one of the leading Dutch Golden Age painters producing landscapes. He is especially known for his large views of Dutch riverside scenes in a golden early morning or late afternoon light. He lived in Dordrecht all his life, but he travelled a bit through the Netherlands for inspiration. He loved painting rural landscapes with clouds, cows and shepherds. After his death his paintings became very popular in the UK, where they ended up in musea, castles and mansions. Most of his paintings are still in the UK.
Today Ton and I visited an exhibition in Dordrecht where they were able to make use of a lot of his paintings for an extraordinary exhibition along painters as Turner, Gainsborough and Constable who were inspired by Cuyp.
The blip is with courtesy of my brother who shot this. I am listening to the audio while admiring one of Cuyp's paintings.
