How does the internet feel
We were on a short break to visit my Mum in Harrogate this weekend, and when we wandered into the Tourist Information office in the town yesterday, I spotted a leaflet for the National Media Museum at Bradford. Old fashioned way of going about finding places to visit, I know, but it worked!
So headed over to Bradford this afternoon (due to the clocks going forward no one was feeling like getting up early). The idea of visiting a Museum left DD less than enthused, but that changed when we got there and she found out that there was fun to be had making light paintings.
The young 'un was very excited to find lots of retro computer games to play and both of them had fun playing Space Invaders at one of those pub table machines which invaded the pubs back in the day when I was at Uni in the late 70's.
There was lots to interest us all, although we over-ruled Grandma on a trip to the i-max cinema to see polar bears (£8 ish for a 40-minute movie, not for us!).
This exhibit is about the lighting in a gallery being controlled by sampling the 'mood of the internet' using analysis of sentiment via Twitter. Enough 'mehs' and the lights go grey.
Look carefully and you can find out what colour a LOL is, though.
