Aftermath of the storm

Weardale is finally emerging from a 5 day long power cut following the storm last Friday. There is mass destruction including the tree down on our church. I was down there this morning helping to remove the loose debris from the pathway as there is an event there this evening. Heather, the vicar, thought she would have to cancel but the power came back on late yesterday evening and so the heating has been going full blast today to warm it up. The tree will have to be removed when there is less urgent work to be done round about. The whole community has been rallying to keep people warm and provided with hot food and drinks. It's hardly been above freezing apart from yesterday when our 7 inches of snow mostly melted away! 
The restoration of power meant a lovely hot shower this morning and proper lights!
This evening I can cook a proper meal with the cooker and not on the wood stove top!
Life is certainly eventful!
