Lichen

Guided walk this morning round glen finglas with a very knowledgable young lady by the name of Lisa. This was a glaciated area and there were lots of erratics on the trail. Oak woodlands, birch woodlands, heathlands and wetlands. An absolute joy in sunshine for the most part. In callander this afternoon to access internet and drink coffee and eat cake! I shall be as round as a barrel when I go home! Also bought some fingerless mittens as I left mine in a service station on the way up! Will be able to collect them on the way back south!

The lichen allows you to discover how old the rock is that it is growing on. This is called map lichen!
