The Jubilee Pool

We had booked a swim at the geothermal open air heated pool at Penzance Jubilee Lido today. Sadly it was cancelled an hour before our 11 am booking. Overnight wind had got under the special thermal covering and the pool had cooled down to an unacceptable level, below 30 degrees. It is a fabulous place, opened in May 1935 and now beautifully restored. Undeterred we had breakfast there as planned, and hope to go tomorrow- our last chance.

Instead we drove west a bit and walked into Mousehole. A group of happy women were just about to swim in the closed and empty ( of boats ) harbour- see extra. They didn’t need a geothermal pool. We had tea and tea cakes in the Rock Pool Cafe, a cafe with a marvellous sea view.
