Crescent Moon Morning

6am, it was dark and the cats woke me to tell me there was a weird moon! Does anyone know why you can see the full moon in the crescent? 

Apparently it is called the “da vinci glow” or earthshine, the dark face of the Moon catches Earth's reflected glow and returns that light. The dark face of the Moon has a faint shine, a ghostly version of a full Moon. Thank you Technophobe.
