St Andrews Day

Today is St Andrew's Day and although I did watch the sky. the shortage of planes and their vapour trails means that I wasn't able to replicate the original Saltire, only one diagonal was visible today through the break in the clouds. The original Saltire, clouds in the shape of the Cross on which St Andrew was martyred, appeared in the sky at a battle near East Linton in answer to prayers for victory in 832. The Saltire became the flag of Scotland from that date over 1000 years ago. (They didn't have planes to help form the cross in those days)
This picture was taken while we were waiting for Katy to join us for lunch at the Old Chain Pier in Newhaven. My parents first home in Edinburgh in 1951 was in the tenements opposite. I think the last time that I was here may have been in my 6th Year at school, a very long time ago. I was at Trinity Academy which was just up the hill.
The image is taken looking north west along the Forth over Granton Harbour, with the darkness which is Fife in the distance.
I had a call yesterday to say I'd won a prize in Saturdays raffle so went and picked that up, a lovely box full of pampering bits and pieces.
We had bridge this evening which went well and other than that I've been pretty lazy since I got home.
Good news today, that the vaccine roll out is to be speeded up. I hope it does what is needed. Keep safe folks.
