Where's the chloroform?

"Do you know how we keep going? Look, this is cocaine, chloroform, too. And pills? You want to see pills? Here are three boxes... In short, we run on dynamite." -Francis Pellisier (winner of the French National Road Race Championship three times as well as two stages at the Tour de France).

That might have been the way old Francis did it and it obviously worked for him but I was charged up on mugs of hot tea and a couple of slices of apple and cinnamon cake. After a few miles I would have traded my left nut for some chloroform. Windy and bloody freezing with the snow still over the fields. Managed 24 plus miles before calling it a day although it was the psychotic newly born wildlife and the fact it was obviously "Nominate your oldest living relative as driver" day which made cycling akin to something from a video game.

Speaking of psychotic wildlife, the whippet got sight of some deer this morning and bolted off on a long chase, leaving Mrs S a bit flustered when she eventually got home, their walk doesn't usually include a mad dash around the local golf course.

For memories sake I should also recall this was the morning that I was the first one awake - at 9AM!! Never thought I'd see the day with our three early birds. And then talking of birds, Joe ran into the kitchen while I was brewing up to shout that there was a bird flapping around in his bedroom and we needed to try and catch it - and I fell for it. He was convulsed with laughter. I was so amazed everyone had slept in that I forgot it was 1st April.
