Afternoon Sky

The storm was raging when we went to bed, but we woke to a much brighter day and sunshine.  What a contrast, but much devastation all around.  Our only problem is still no mobile signal or TV signal.  At least we have electricity, many don’t.    Friends who live further north have no power, so I called my mum and dad to check in on them - and thankfully they were fine.  They feared their electricity might go off and had got themselves prepared for that, but they have been lucky.

BB was off to rugby training and then a match and TT went off to help at church.  I wandered down to rugby thinking I would get there just before the end of the first half.  They must have started early, as what I thought was half time, was actually full time.  But just before the end a shivering and crippling BB appeared beside me.  He had played for about three quarters of the game scored a try and hurt his foot.  He had no idea how he did that, but said it was ok, but sore.  I was heading into town for a  few things, so I asked one of his coaches if he could give him a lift home.

I had met TT and had just come out of the chemist when I got a message (not sure how it got through) from BB saying please come home, my foot is really swollen.  I tried to call him – but couldn’t, so we just headed home.  He had a tennis ball sized swelling on his foot and was clearly in a lot of pain.  My first thought was a trip to A&E, my second was let’s get that iced and give you some painkillers.  The immediate swelling eventually came down, by which time  his whole foot started to swell up.  He could move all his toes, so we hope it is just soft tissue damage.
Once he was feeling a bit better, and was ensconced on the sofa watching a movie, and after I had baked some wheaten bread and some muffins, TT and I popped out for a walk and then to the supermarket.  When we got back BB was doing some studying and said his foot wasn’t as sore as it had been – though was still very swollen.  TT cooked tea tonight and I watched the last episodes of Showtrial, but was dozing off.

Later TT started watching something with subtitles. It looked good, but I was unable to focus on it, so had an early night.

Here’s a view from our afternoon walk, with the Pentlands in the distance.
